I love both the first and now the 2nd cookbook. I’ve made at least 15 recipes in the 2nd book already. I’ve been making big batches of Sweet potato pancakes every weekend and then I freeze them and eat them during the week.

Thank you, Shalane and Elyse, for these great cookbooks for runners of all speeds. I will be running my 5th consecutive NYC marathon next weekend and I’m still chasing my sub-4 goal. Last year, I PR’d at 4:07. I have dealt with severe iron deficiency this year, which has impacted my training significantly. I have changed my eating habits this year by eating more plant-based foods to fuel my body. Although a sub-4 isn’t likely in the cards next weekend, I know next year I can reach my goal with more ability to train and an army of healthy recipes to power me to the finish. Best of luck next weekend, Shalane! You are amazing, thanks for representing US runners so well.

As a big fan of the first cookbook and recent vegan I was extremely excited for the the second cookbook but apprehensive about how well it would now apply to me! I wasn’t disappointed! Although there are some recipes I have trouble adapting to fit my diet, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of vegan/vegetarian meals and all the tips to make meals meat/dairy free! Thank you, they are delicious!!!

Today is my birthday and I am celebrating with your recipes! I am an Ironman triathlete and have always struggled with keeping nutrition down on long endurance events! All of the “easy” stuff (gu/blocks/gatorade etc) just makes me so queasy! So heres to a new year and better racing nutrition! THANKS! -sarah
