TCS New York City Marathon Champion Shalane Flanagan and World-renowned Chef Daniel Humm Team Up To Support Free Youth Running Programs

New York, October 17, 2018 – In celebration of the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon on November 4, world-renowned chef, Daniel Humm, and last year’s champion, four-time Olympian and running sensation, Shalane Flanagan, are teaming up to help improve and transform the lives of children.

Humm’s fast casual restaurant Made Nice, located at 8 W. 28th St., New York, will offer Superhero Muffins in pumpkin spice from Flanagan’s best-selling cookbook Run Fast. Cook Fast. Eat Slow. Proceeds will help support the New York Road Runners’ free youth fitness programs which serve 250,000 children throughout the five boroughs and across the country. Flanagan and Humm are both New York Road Runners Team for Kids Ambassadors, a group of notable runners that support and inspire the next generation of runners. The Superhero Muffins will be available at Made Nice until November 3.

At last year’s race, Flanagan became the first U.S. woman to win the open division in New York since 1977. Recently, she launched her cookbook to inspire athletes of all levels to cook their way to success with healthy and nourishing meals and recipes. Superhero Muffins took the running community by storm as the ultimate breakfast and snack fuel for athletes since they feature the ideal balance of nourishing fats and protein and a sneaky serving of veggies.

Humm is the chef/co-owner of Make It Nice, a hospitality group that includes, Eleven Madison Park, NoMad New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas as well as Made Nice. During Humm’s career, he has received numerous accolades, including seven James Beard Foundation Awards, three Michelin Stars, and the no. #1 spot on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2017. He is an avid runner and this year will be his fourth run at the New York City marathon. Flanagan and Humm have a shared commitment to positively influence and impact the lives of the next generation by encouraging healthy and active lifestyles.
